The Quality of Carsbuddy PPF: XPEL Film Tiers Compared, from ProTex Lite to Ultimate Fusion

By Carsbuddy ·

PPF quality has two halves: the film and the person who installs it. A great film installed badly fails, and a good installer cannot rescue a cheap film. Here is how we think about both at Carsbuddy.

The Film: We Install XPEL

Carsbuddy is an XPEL authorized installer for PPF, ceramic coating and window films. We install genuine film from a known manufacturer, and we are happy to show you what is going on your car. Our PPF is offered with up to ten years of protection under a written warranty.

What Makes a PPF Film High Quality

  • Clarity. It should be nearly invisible and free of the orange-peel texture that cheap film has.
  • Non-yellowing. UV should not turn it yellow over time.
  • Self-healing top coat. Light scratches and swirl marks should disappear.
  • Stain and chemical resistance. Bugs, bird droppings and road grime should not leave permanent marks.
  • Edge seal and adhesive. The film must stay put at the edges and come off cleanly later.
  • Pattern accuracy. Vehicle-specific kits mean a seamless fit with no blades near your paint.

The Films We Install

ProTex Lite

Entry protection with a glossy finish, stain resistance and self-healing technology. A good fit for daily-driver cars that need protection from sun, monsoon, pollution and road debris at a sensible price.

Exo Armor

Heavy-duty, self-healing, crystal-clear film for the zones that take the most abuse: bumpers, mirrors, rockers and the leading edge of the bonnet. Built for flying stones, parking scuffs and everyday scratches on crowded roads.

Ultimate Plus

Our most-requested clear film. Self-healing, non-yellowing, stain resistant, with edge seal technology and easy maintenance. A strong all-rounder for most cars, including luxury cars.

Ultimate Fusion

Everything in Ultimate Plus with a hydrophobic coating built into the film. It sheds water, reduces water spots and makes cleaning easy after dusty roads and heavy monsoons.

Stealth

A satin, matte-finish film. It protects matte and satin paint, or turns gloss paint into a satin finish while protecting it. Backed by a 10-year warranty.

Color

Colour-change protection film in gloss, satin and metallic finishes. It protects like PPF and is much thicker than vinyl. Also backed by a 10-year warranty.

Which One Suits Which Car

  • Daily city car, sensible budget: ProTex Lite
  • High-impact panels, highway-heavy use: Exo Armor
  • New or luxury car, clear and long-lasting: Ultimate Plus
  • Dusty roads and monsoon, easier cleaning: Ultimate Fusion
  • Satin or matte look, or matte paint: Stealth
  • Colour change with protection: Color

This is a starting point. We look at the car and how you use it, then recommend.

The Installer: Where Quality Is Won or Lost

  • Preparation before film goes on. Paint is washed, decontaminated and corrected if needed.
  • Trained, experienced technicians following the same process in every studio.
  • Proper environment with controlled lighting, so dust and flaws are caught.
  • Edge work done carefully, wrapping edges where it is appropriate.
  • Aftercare, including maintenance after the job.

How to Check Any PPF Quote

Ask which film brand and product name is being used, whether it is vehicle-specific, what the warranty says in writing, and who honours it. A studio that answers plainly is a studio you can trust. More in how long Carsbuddy PPF lasts.
